Diet Or Not To Diet ?..This the Question

What is considered a diet and should you change your mindset.


The World Is Diet Crazy

I would say 90% of people I know are on or have been on a diet, that’s crazy right If I know that many people how many around the world are on a diet right now? Diet or not to diet this is the question, we search for the new diet that’s going to make the difference this time, this time we will lose that weight we will stick to it, but most of the time we don’t stick to it because they are so difficult to stick to, going on a calorie restrictive diet is hard if we cut our calories too much we are not getting the nutrients we need to function properly, all your doing is making yourself feel like crap and your will power will go out the window. So what kind of diets are out there and are they any good.




Low Carb Diets.

There are two kinds of carbohydrates complex and simple.

Complex are good carbohydrates they take longer for your body to break it down and turn it into glucose which means they provide more energy, these carbohydrates provide your body with more vitamins, minerals and are higher in fiber. Some foods that contain complex carbohydrates are kale, cabbage, broccoli, whole grain rice, wholes grain bread, beans such as kidney beans, black-eyed peas, Chickpeas, there is a whole variety of beans you can get in the shops now, Oats are a good complex carbohydrate great in the morning for breakfast, sweet potatoes, bananas this list goes on. these are carbs you should be eating.

Simple carbohydrates consist normally of refined sugars like sugar, syrups, juices, cakes, biscuits, soft drinks, jam, some fruit is classed as simple but because of the fiber content, they are OK to eat. It’s not that you should eliminate it from your diet but just have it a treat.

A low carb diet is when you would restrict the number of carbs you consume baring in mind that vegetables and fruit have carbohydrates in them the one you would normally omit from your diet are things like bread, rice, oats, potatoes, and of course all the sugar-laden carbs like cake, biscuits, and juices.

The ratio of carbs, protein, and fats on a low carb diet are Carbs 45% Protein 25% and Fats 30%

Breakfast you might have scrambled egg with half an avocado or a smoothie made from Greek yogurt some mixed berries and half an avocado and milk of your choice.

Lunch could be Chicken salad or omelet with feta cheese and spinach.

Dinner you may have steak and stir-fried vegetables or Chicken Thai curry with cauliflower rice or normal brown rice.

There are lots of books with good tasty meals you can make.

This is the new kid on the block, it’s supposed to give you fantastic results I have not tried this myself but that’s because I know my body needs carbohydrates or it doesn’t function well so I’m not sure I would do well on it.

This is another low carb diet but you have to consume large amounts of fats, the body then goes into ketosis and you lose weight simply your body is using any fat stored as energy. This is a rough guide 60-75% of your calories should come from fats, 15-30% should come from Protein and 5-10% should come from carbohydrates.

I would consult your doctor if you are going on this kind of diet. This diet claims it helps with your physical and mental performance as well as losing weight so could be a good choice if you can live without the cakes, bread, and potatoes.


Just Changing The Way You Eat


Little changes can make a big difference, if you cut out all the rubbish food like pizza, takeaways, cakes, biscuits, crips, canned drinks and any processed food like ready meals and eat only fresh food made by you, you are likely to lose weight. Eating a good varied diet with lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds along with a protein source such as chicken, fish, lamb, and beef. You should also drink plenty of water as this helps you feel full and you are less likely to grab a bad snack.

Reduce your portion size as well we eat far too much and that’s how we gain weight and once a week gives yourself a treat there is nothing worse than not having something to look forward to. Make sure you have three meals a day only eat until you feel full, don’t keep on eating you are just adding extra calories that you don’t need and is going to make you fat.

I have a friend that was overweight she would always say to me she hardly ate anything and that’s why she was fat, well what was happening was she wouldn’t eat breakfast then she felt hungry so instead of eating something nutritious she would eat six packs of crisps washed down with three cans of fizzy pop and then a packet of biscuits, then she would order an array of curries for dinner from the takeaway, she was in total denial that she was consuming far too many rubbish calories and not doing any kind of exercise what’s so ever. The outcome was she gained a vast amount of weight which then lead to her not liking herself. Now she is in control of her diet and has lost the weight and looks fantastic, what I’m trying to say is take control and stop the excuses, it is only you that can do it no one else, you just need to change your mindset.

Whatever diet you choose it’s got to be one you can stick to, there is no point in starting the latest diet craze if you can’t sustain it. I would take a look at the diets out there and decide which is best for you, don’t do it because it’s the latest trend they normally don’t work. Shake meal replacements have been around a long time if you have ever tried to lose weight I’m sure you have tried them. They have come a long way since they first came out in the 60s. We are bombarded with adverts on TV and in magazines about different types of shakes out there it can be confusing to say the least, we are more likely to buy one that is advertised by a celebrity because we like the way they look and that’s the whole point of it to get you to buy that brand.

Skimmed milk powder, maltodextrin, inulin, soya bean oil, milk proteins, thickener (xanthan gum), vitamins and minerals1, natural flavoring, emulsifiers (powdered cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, soya lecithin), sweetener (sucralose), color (carotene). Which sound fine but you have thickening agents, emulsifiers and stuff, not all natural ingredients.

It’s always best to look at the back of the packet in case of allergies and if you don’t know what the ingredient is it’s probably best not to buy it. As I found out some can give you a stomach ache, wind and make you yucky and the last thing you want is to feel like that.

Today we have a choice of what kind of replacement meals we consume if you are going to try this you should get the one with the best ingredients then you know your giving your body the best start to losing weight.

My Results

What I think

I think this is the best Shake meal replacement on the market, full of good ingredients, it’s taste good there are no artificial flavoring and nothing that going to cause bloating, wind or tummy ache.
